Painter Velmurugan expresses the theme of depicting cows with moon. CANNES, FRANCE – British singer and actress Rachanaa Jain made a dazzling statement at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in two stunning outfits by designer Smrutha Santhosh, founder of Styling by Wow Vastra. More than fashion, her appearance celebrated heritage, storytelling, and bold craftsmanship.
Rachanaa’s first look, the showstopper of the evening, was the Peacock Royale Lehenga—a regal creation with a six-metre train, crafted from cruelty-free artificial peacock feathers and hand woven Kanchivaram silk. Paired with antique temple jewelry engraved with goddess icons, the ensemble embodied divinity and grandeur.
This couture masterpiece took:
240 hours of handweaving
250 hours of intricate Aari embroidery
150 hours of feather artistry
Her second red carpet look featured a striking Indo-Western ensemble—a structured purple skirt paired with a dramatic frilled top and crystal embellishments. It was a perfect fusion of contemporary flair and cultural richness, highlighting Smrutha’s talent for blending tradition with innovation.
Smrutha Santhosh also walked the Cannes red carpet in her own standout look: a contemporary-draped Ahimsa silk Kanchivaram saree. Paired with bold statement jewelry and detailed handwoven silk, the ensemble symbolizes strength, sustainability, and deep cultural roots. Ethically made from non-violent silk, it reflected her commitment to conscious fashion and timeless elegance.
The famous Bollywood actor Rahul Bhat complimented both Rachanaa & Smrutha on their confident traditional look which made them stand out in the red carpet.
Both Rachanaa and Smrutha’s looks were brought to life by Rooby, celebrity makeup artist and founder of Make Up by Rooby. Her refined artistry added a flawless finish, enhancing each ensemble’s elegance and red carpet radiance.
Styling by Wow Vastra, known for its tagline “The Complete Look,” is celebrated for fusing traditional Indian textiles like Banarasi and Kanchivaram silk with modern Indo-Western silhouettes. Smrutha’s debut at Cannes was a global showcase of her signature aesthetic.
The designer is also behind the costumes for Rachanaa Jain’s upcoming international film Bling Power, a Bollywood-Hollywood crossover. This collaboration marks Smrutha’s growing influence in global fashion and cinema.
At the heart of Wow Vastra is a purpose-driven mission. The brand empowers women artisans from rural and underrepresented communities, many of whom are rebuilding their lives after hardship. Through dignified employment, skill-building, and creative collaboration, Smrutha champions craft as a tool for healing and empowerment.
